The EtherPeek 3.5.3 Patch will update EtherPeek version 3.5.2 to 3.5.3. Duplicate your EtherPeek folder and run the EtherPeek 3.5.3 Patch application. Select the EtherPeek application in the new copy of your EtherPeek folder and apply the patch. If the patch fails, try installing a fresh copy of EtherPeek 3.5.2 and apply the patch to the fresh copy of EtherPeek 3.5.2. If you are having difficulties patching to 3.5.3, contact techsupport@aggroup.com.
WARNING!
Due to a bug present in a template that Apple ships to developers who write Ethernet drivers, your Macintosh may crash when EtherPeek tries to send packets through any driver based on the template. Please be aware that when sending packets, your Macintosh might crash. If you experience a crash immediately after trying to send a packet, by selecting "Initiate Send", "Send Selected", "Send One", or "Echo On Capture", and you are using a non-Apple interface, such as a PC Card or a PCI card, please contact techsupport@aggroup.com or use our online form at <http://www.aggroup.com/support/> and let us know what card you are using and what version of the driver is installed. This bug only affects PCI cards, PC cards with Card and Socket Services 3.0 or later, and the built-in interfaces on PCI based Power Macintoshes. Apple is aware of the problem with the template and is working on a fix.
Note About MacOS 8.5 Compatibility
MacOS 8.5 includes new drivers for the PowerBook 3400/G3 and PCI Power Macintoshes built-in interfaces which are based on Apple's new template and will crash if EtherPeek is used to send packets on these interfaces. Apple is aware of the problem and working on a fix for both the template and the drivers included with MacOS 8.5.
MacOS 8.5 includes a new driver for the built-in interface on PCI Power Macintoshes which affects how EtherPeek captures packets on these machines. This will affect any desktop PCI Power Macintosh which did not originally ship with a G3 processor, running MacOS 8.5 or later. EtherPeek 3.5.3 includes support for capturing using this new driver.
3.5.3 - Changes since 3.5.2
• Added support for selecting the "MotherBoard:…" option on PCI PowerMacs with the "Apple Enet" driver installed.
• Modified EtherPeek's select interface dialog so it will alert you if you select "Slot 0…" when you should select "MotherBoard:…" and when you select "MotherBoard:…" when you should select "Slot 0…". As always, holding down the option key will allow you to bypass EtherPeek's recommendation, but doing so is not supported.
• Fixed a bug which could cause a crash when using initiate send with a DLPI interface, such as a PCI card or the built-in on a PowerMacintosh G3.
